Gabon’s strong economy and growing middle class make it the most appealing sub-Saharan African country for expanding retailers, according to consulting firm A.T. Kearney. The firm evaluated 48 countries in the region, ranking Gabon ahead of Botswana, Angola and Nigeria, which is Africa’s biggest economy and most populous country. South African retailers including Shoprite, Woolworths and Pick n Pay are all expanding in the region and eyeing Gabon.
