Sudberry Properties is nearing completion of the 138,000-square-foot Millenia Commons shopping center. The new center is part of the larger Millenia development, which will include offices, hotels and parks. Among the Millenia Commons retail tenants: Buy Buy Baby, Cost Plus, HomeGoods, Mattress Firm and Ross Dress for Less. Alpharetta, Ga.
Developers want to add about 24,000 square feet of freestanding development, including 300 apartments and some public and private amenities, to North Point Mall. The Point, as this new development is to be called, would occupy part of the mall’s former Sears anchor store, which closed last year. Developer Kevin Kan is leasing up Bellaire Food Street, a new project in Chinatown that will feature 13 restaurants and a 300-car parking garage. Many of the tenants are opening their first Houston spaces. They include Beard Papa’s, Fat Ni BBQ, MeetFresh, Pepper Lunch and Popfancy Pops. CultureMap

HomeGoods says it will move into the former Elder-Beerman anchor store at Kentucky Oaks Mall, occupying about 44,000 square feet in that space. Burlington moved into the mall’s former Sears anchor in September, and an H&M is set to open this summer. WPSD 6
Pontiac, Mich.
Developers say they plan to spend some $63 million to convert the 1.4 million-square-foot former Summit Place mall into a mixed-use property to be named Oakland County Business Center. Whole Foods and MedFirst Primary Care are to anchor the 150,150-square-foot Waterview Marketplace, which is currently under construction with a grand opening scheduled for this summer. A former car lot is to become a shopping center. Developer Alan Shuman will spend $10 million to renovate the former A.W. Golden Cadillac building, which is now to accommodate a neighborhood center with a Sav-A-Lot anchor and space for 12 additional tenants. WFMZ 69
Nashville, Tenn.
U.S. Properties Group is converting the central plaza of its 250,000-square-foot Streets of Indian Lake into a meeting place. The $2.5 million new plaza will feature three points of entry, including greenery-lined pathways to various areas for socializing and for programmed events.
