In the pipeline: Who’s building what where

San Luis Obispo, Calif.
Outdoors chain REI filed for a building permit to open an REI Co-op store in a former Forever 21 space at Kroenke Group’s SLO Promenade. The developer announced plans last year to divide the former store into smaller units to accommodate a Sprouts Farmers Market and three other tenants. The Tribune

Peachtree City, Ga.
The City Council is considering plans to transform the city’s original downtown shopping center, Aberdeen Village Center, into a mixed-use complex. The city seeks a public-private partnership to redevelop the project with as many as 165 housing units and 30,000 square feet of retail. The Citizen

Des Moines, Iowa
Merle Hay Mall secured a $2.5 million loan from the Polk County Board of Supervisors to buy back its former Sears and Younkers stores from those retailers, out of bankruptcy court. The plans are to divide the two-level Younkers into two stores and to tear down the Sears. KCCI 8 

Bethesda, Md.
Regency Centers will demolish the former Westbard Shopping Center to develop a $65 million mixed-use property comprising 823,600 square feet of new development, 410 multifamily units, 106 town houses and 180,000 square feet of retail. WTOP

Tom’s River, N.J.
Simon will demolish the 104,000-square-foot Sears store at Ocean County Mall and replace it with a 97,700-square-foot lifestyle center comprising three buildings. The company says it anticipates completing the project in about 18 months. Jersey Shore Online

Santa Fe, N.M.
HomeGoods will join Fidelis Realty Partners’ DeVargas Center mall, moving into a former Office Depot store. Office Depot, meanwhile, plans to move to the opposite end of one of the mall’s main corridors, where it will create a smaller store in a vacated movie theater space. Santa Fe New Mexican

McAlester, Okla.
Developer Burk Collins Co. is soon to break ground on the $27 million Shops at McAlester, a power center with an expected opening date in the fall of 2019. The leasing agents are looking at Hobby Lobby, Ross Dress for Less and T.J.Maxx. McAlester News-Capital 

Salem, Ore.
The city approved a site plan for the 24-acre, Costco Wholesale–anchored Kuebler Gateway Shopping Center. The development will also include a fuel station and four retail buildings. The Seattle Times

Camden, S.C.
Hobby Lobby and Marshalls are moving into a former Kmart store at River Oaks Shopping Center. BMS Camden Associates purchased the center in August and is adding on an 8,400-square-foot outparcel. Chronicle Independent
