Attendees at ICSC New York, which will run Dec. 7 and 8 at Javits Center in New York City, will experience much more than the event’s hallmark dealmaking floor, networking reception and trendspotting panels. They’ll also engage with ICSC’s new brand in action, representing the marketplaces and spaces where people shop, dine, work, play and gather.
At the ICSC Brand Activation, attendees can create unique social media posts, satisfy their coffee cravings, donate to Toys for Tots and demo the ICSC Networking Platform. Also at the ICSC Brand Activation, members, including women and minority service providers and business owners, will have the opportunity to network. Additionally, they’ll hear panel discussions like:
Attendees can use the ICSC Networking Platform before the event to strategize, schedule appointments and plan the best use of their time at the show. ICSC has made it easy to list the properties they have available, get recommended matches for prospective clients and set up meetings with property owners, landlords and tenants. See how it works here.
Scattered among ICSC’s panel discussions will be short sessions with actionable tips that attendees can put into action to make their businesses run better. The microlearning sessions attendees won’t want to miss:
Tips for Creative Dealmakers: Dividing a Big Box
Breaking up big boxes for smaller tenants isn’t easy, but it’s a skill that’s in high demand. On Dec. 7, from 10:45 to 11 a.m., CBRE Retail Services senior vice president Joe Parrott will show attendees how to avoid physical, legal and economic pitfalls of dividing a former big-box store for junior tenants.
Tips for CRE Advocates: Redevelopment and Anchor Leases
Adaptive repurposing of second-generation space will occupy many landlords this year as they reformulate properties. Because anchor tenants also have a say, however, the endeavor is riddled with legal traps and pitfalls. On Dec. 7, from 2:45 to 3 p.m. a lawyer will share key leasing and legal considerations for managing anchor tenant relationships to accelerate redevelopment plans.
Tips for Entrepreneur Advisors: Small Business Lease Terms
Small businesses are the lifeblood of shopping centers, and it behooves landlords to rethink their leases to better help these tenants grow. On Dec. 8, from 10:45 to 11 a.m., Rothschild Downes principal Jennifer Volin will teach attendees to draft leases that reflect the unique needs of a small business.
ICSC champions small and emerging businesses in getting from business plan to brick-and-mortar.
