The Ultimate Showroom: Browse Bruce Wayne’s House

June 12, 2024

Batman’s realm may be Gotham, but billionaire Bruce Wayne has a safe house in New York City’s Chelsea. The specific location was secret from June 3 through 10, but now that the Wayne Enterprises Experience temporary luxury retail showroom is closed, we can disclose the location.

Public relations and brand-building agency Relevance International and Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products hosted the Wayne Enterprises Experience for eight days this month at 357 W. 17th St., which on other days houses McIntosh home audio showroom House of Sound. The building also served as the home of Roman Roy in the show Succession.

3 Key Elements

Shopping: During the Wayne Enterprises Experience, however, attendees experienced a different kind of show. Luxury goods from pearls to pianos and cars to cognac were available for sale via QR codes that linked to a Shopify-powered platform, purportedly run by Wayne Enterprises. Given that shoppers were peeking into the corners of a home owned by America’s most well-liked billionaire, anything for sale was something Bruce Wayne wears, drives, drinks, decorates with or even designed himself.

Concierge and Curation: But shoppers don’t just shop the Wayne Enterprises Experience. Rather, actors portraying Wayne Enterprises CEO Lucius Fox and Bruce Wayne’s personal right hand, Alfred Pennyworth, shepherded guests on a guided tour of the 11,000-square-foot townhome and of the goods for sale there and via the e-commerce platform, introducing vistors to the luxury brands representatives along the way.

Theater: It’s not the Batman experience without a villain, of course, and so Riddler interrupted the house tour, providing some interactive theater and narrative mystery to round out the experience.

Commerce + Communities Today editor-in-chief Amanda Metcalf visited the Wayne Enterprises Experience during its recent run. Here’s what she found at the omnichannel intersection of luxury shopping, luxury experience and Batman stanning.

Automobili Pininfarina claims its new Battista model hypercar — would you believe it was developed with Wayne Enterprises? — has the fastest acceleration among cars now available, going from zero to 60 mph in 1.8 seconds and zero to 186 mph in 10.5 seconds. One could go with the Battista Gotham or Battista Dark Knight for $3.7 million, or the B95 Gotham or B95 Dark Knight windshield-less convertible for $5.3 million. Visitors could talk with the brand representative onsite or scan the QR code to see much more information or connect to a concierge.

While immersed in the online experience, they might have noticed an opportunity to get on the list for an option to buy one of just 10 Tumblers being made by Auto Action Developments in honor of Batman’s 85th anniversary.

In the home theater while watching a video call from Bruce Wayne about why he couldn’t join guests for the tour, the Riddler hacked in to hint at mischief to come, appearing on the lifesize Proto Hologram Device, available via QR code for $80 million. A tabletop version is available for $7.7 million.

Guests next traveled to Bruce Wayne’s lab …

… where they learned from a Revolution brand rep about the world’s fastest e-bike, which can reach 80 mph. All the better, guests were told, for Bruce Wayne to get back to the Batcave quickly when signaled. It’s available for $30,000 via pre-order. Notice the abstract shape on the screen in the background. One can think about a word or thought, and a microchip in their wrist will communicate brainwaves to a computer program that turns it into a 3D digital form, which Lans King then turns into a sculpture. That’s listed on the e-commerce platform for $58,000.

After a wine-and-dine experience with some wagyu beef and tea sandwiches and some ceviche courtesy of Bruce Wayne’s chefs …

.. it was onward to the living room, where McIntosh showcased its sound system and where a TV displayed other “Bruce Wayne properties” around the world that were available in the e-commerce platform for vacation rental.

Visitors got a view of the terrace and one of Karen Atta’s resin sculptures, as well as a $55,000 Alpange Piano. Alfred, at left, plays of course.

Alfred also pointed out that 10 Dark Knight-inspired Manor Edition Alpange pianos are available for preorder via the online experience.

Guests also were introduced to Louis XIII cognac …

… served in a glass designed to make the treat look like a sunflower.

Next was a trip to Bruce Wayne’s own closet with Eleventy clothes …

… and Ron Donovan shoes, among others.

No Bruce Wayne experience would be complete without a visit to the Batcave, either. In addition to the Batsuit, visitors got a look at jewels, including the iconic pearls owned by Bruce Wayne’s beloved mother, Martha. He will part with them, however, for $42,000, according to the e-commerce experience.

It was also here in the Batcave, next to the wine cellar, that the Riddler’s warning of mischief came true. Catwoman was caught in the act trying to steal a kryptonite ring, incidentally made by Scott West and available via QR code for $800,400.

Now safe, the guests and guides gathered in the rooftop lounge for celebratory bubbles and a violin serenade.

Whether it’s that the Wayne Enterprises Experience makes shopping experiential or conversely that it adds purchasing options to an experience is beside the point. It’s all of the above, true omnichannel entertainment shopping.

Shopping by appointment, VIP rooms, concierge service — these are not new for the luxury-shopping set, but shopping right out of Batman’s closet is. And Relevance International founder and CEO Suzanne Rosnowski, who curated the brand relationships and goods sold via the Wayne Enterprises Experience, told C+CT that her company hopes to offer more such experiences.
