The Gymboree children’s-apparel brand will be available again next year, at shops inside about 200 The Children’s Place stores and over its own website.
The Children’s Place acquired the Gymboree and Crazy 8 brands for $7.6 million after Gymboree went out of business in January and shut some 800 stores.
“We have embarked upon an exciting journey to bring this iconic brand back to the loyal Gymboree customers, who continue to voice an unrivaled passion and affinity for it,” said Jane Elfers, president and CEO of The Children’s Place, in an announcement on Tuesday.
Gymboree closed some 800 stores when it declared bankruptcy in January
The Children’s Place operated 961 stores as of Aug. 3, across the U.S. and in Canada and Puerto Rico, as well as at 225 international locations operated by eight franchisees in 19 countries.
“We believe a multichannel offering combining an enhanced online shopping experience with inviting in-store locations will best serve long-standing Gymboree customers and also welcome a new generation of moms to the iconic brand,” said Claudia Lima-Guinehut, the company's senior vice president of global merchandising, in a press release. “The goal is to provide a Gymboree brand experience that reconnects mom to the branded product that she loves and also provides her with enhanced capabilities she’s come to expect from best-in-class, omni-channel retailers.”
