Supermarket chain Kroger has sold its 784-unit convenience-store business to U.K.-based EG Group for nearly $2.2 billion.
The convenience-store banners trading hands are Kwik Shop, Loaf ‘N Jug, Quik Stop, Tom Thumb and Turkey Hill. Kroger put the convenience-store division up for sale in October.
"Our convenience-store business has been a part of our company for many years,” said Executive Vice President and CFO John Michael Schlotman in a press release. "We want to thank our management team and associates for their enduring commitment to our customers and for the contributions they have made to build our supermarket fuel business."
