On Monday, Microsoft Corp. opened its largest store to date, a 22,369 square-foot flagship in the heart of Manhattan at Fifth Ave. and 53rd Street. In the making for more than six years, the five-floor store features an assortment of the company's products and in-store services that are offered at the company’s more than 110 retail locations. But this flagship offers new interactive experiences to allow customers to get hands-on with products in an immersive way, says David Porter, corporate vice president, worldwide retail and online stores at Microsoft.
“Our store on Fifth Avenue — as well as every other one of our locations across the U.S., Puerto Rico and Canada — is here to showcase the best of Microsoft to the local community,” said David Porter, corporate vice president, Worldwide Retail and Online Stores at Microsoft. “We exist to build relationships with our customers, one person at a time, and we are excited to do that on Fifth Avenue starting today.”
Since opening its first store in 2009, Microsoft has expanded its retail footprint and online presence to serve more than 1 billion customers through the company’s community-based retail strategy. Today, more than 80 percent of Americans live within 20 miles of a Microsoft store, with more than 110 stores across the U.S., Puerto Rico and Canada, as well as online stores operating in 189 countries, according to the company.
The Microsoft Flagship Store is the company’s largest store to date, offering new immersive experiences to engage with customers and partners while serving as a technology hub for the community.
Som of the store's features include: an annswer desk for technical questions, troubleshooting and repairs regardless of device or where it was purchased; a community theater; and immersive video walls.
In 2009, Microsoft opened its first Microsoft store in Scottsdale, Ariz. Since then, Microsoft has opened more than 110 retail locations across the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico.
