I am a firm believer in industry and government working together. The ICSC PAC is one of the tools that assists ICSC in effectively advocating for our industry in Washington, D.C. Because of the various—and oftentimes complex—tax treatments that are specific to real estate, our industry is constantly needing to educate our federal representatives on the importance of these tax issues. Without effective representation in Washington, D.C., our industry could be vulnerable to new legislation that might have unintended negative consequences.
Sometimes it is difficult to measure the day-to-day benefit, but our advocacy at the federal level is focused on the long game. As a member of ICSC’s PAC Management Board, I am certain that the contributions I make are benefitting my business in the long run.
“The PAC gives ICSC a place at the table when important issues are being debated in Washington, D.C.”
I’m kind of a political junkie, so I have always been active in the political process at the local, state and federal level. I have been involved as a volunteer with ICSC Government Relations for over 20 years. The PAC support is simply another level of commitment to government advocacy.
The PAC gives ICSC a place at the table when important issues are being debated in Washington, D.C.
In addition to my support of the ICSC PAC, I regularly contribute to political candidates. My contributions to the ICSC PAC are based on my desire to advance the interests of the marketplaces industry as a whole.
