Congressman Van Taylor (TX-3) joined ICSC members in Plano on January 23 at The Shops at Willow Bend for a retail real estate discussion.
Topics included Qualified Improvement Property (QIP), opposing legislation that would tax carried interest as ordinary income, restoring the federal income tax exemption for state and local development grants, changes to beneficial ownership reporting requirements and ADA lawsuit reform, as well as the positive impact of shopping centers in the local community in terms of jobs and services.
Taylor is cosponsor of H.R. 1869, which would correct the QIP technical error, and expressed a willingness to work with ICSC on other legislative priorities.
Event attendees also included Gene Satern (The Shops at Willow Bend), Whitney Livingston (Centennial Real Estate), Peter Braster (City of Plano), Jason Claunch (Catalyst Commercial), Sally Bane (City of Plano) and Michael Garrison (ICSC).
