On September 12, ICSC hosted a Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) Week Retail Real Estate Reception.
The event recognized the accomplishments of ICSC Vice Chairman Angele Robinson-Gaylord, the Real Estate Executive Council (REEC) and its CEO, Ken McIntyre, and Congressman Marc Veasey (D-TX-33), who were presented with ICSC’s inaugural Impact Awards in recognition of their significant roles in advancing diversity in the Marketplaces Industry.
The event also celebrated ICSC’s partnership with North Carolina Central University, with students from NCCU & Georgia State University receiving support through the Glenn Rufrano Conference Fund to attend event. In addition, students from Morgan State University, NCCU and GSU also received complimentary registration to the CBCF Annual Legislative Conference.
More than 100 people attended the reception, including members of Congress and their staff, members of the ICSC Board of Trustees and ICSC Foundation Board.
Approximately $40,000 was raised by event sponsorships to support the ICSC Foundation’s mission. Sponsors included Brixmor, Primestor, First American, Edens, Tanger, Rappaport, Caton Commercial, Steerpoint Capital, Acadia Realty Trust, Russell Glen Company and MCB Real Estate.
During the CBC conference, ICSC Trustee Lyneir Richardson participated in a panel hosted by CBC Chairman Steven Horsford of Nevada, “The Black Wealth Agenda” focused on creating generational Black wealth across the United States.
