ICSC Brings Retail Real Estate to Life by Showcasing the Evolution of the Industry at RECon

May 1, 2019

Event allows attendees to experience the transformation of the retail real estate space with new destinations

NEW YORK (May 1, 2019): ICSC announced today that its annual RECon conference will introduce five new “destinations” to showcase the industry-changing concepts that reflect the evolution taking place in centers across the country. RECon, which will be hosted this May 19-22 in Las Vegas, Nevada, is the world’s largest global gathering of retail and real estate professionals and will connect event attendees and industry experts with emerging brands, retailers, tech companies and new tenant classes at several different conference destinations.

The five never-before-seen destinations featured at this year’s RECon will bring participants closer to industry innovations, including the “Retail in Focus” experience to spotlight both Emerging Brands such as Foxtrot, Guesst and Batch as well as Specialty Retail. Kaiser Permanente, Retrofitness, LLC and others will make their debut at RECon, demonstrating the continued shift to health and wellness. At the Health and Wellness Center, Walgreens also will be onsite supporting Red Nose Day to raise money for children in need. RECon’s Innovation Exchange technology incubator will showcase Virtual APT, a company illustrating the future of building mapping with 3D technologies, as well as newcomers such as Athena Security and Toolbox Group, among others. Outlet Centers will highlight how owners and developers are raising the bar in this important segment of the industry. Finally, both the Colleges & Universities destination and Talent Development Pavilion will show how participants can build a strong and diverse pipeline of aspiring retail real estate professionals.

Along with these destinations, RECon will boast 125 new exhibitors spanning the variety of tenant classes that make up the industry today.  Experiential activations by companies such as Candytopia, Electrify America, Area 15 and a Marvel Adventure Lab Photo Booth will help showcase the energy of the evolving retail space.

“RECon is a one-of-a-kind event that brings to life the exciting innovations of the brick-and-mortar experience like never before,” said Tom McGee, president and CEO of ICSC. “Beyond strategic deal making and professional development, the new destinations at RECon allow attendees to ‘experience the experience’ and see firsthand the rise of the Consumer Channel and the disruptive potential throughout our fast-paced industry.”

In line with the tradition of RECon, the conference will include deal making and professional development opportunities for those attending. There will also be curated programming featuring discussions on the industry’s most pressing trends as they continue to shape the future of retail.

The event will feature keynotes from CBS analyst and former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo; Marcus Lemonis, star of CNBC’s The Profit; and Julie Rice, partner at WeWork.
