Google’s Ad Policy Shift Could Impact Small Businesses

November 7, 2024

Starting Nov. 21, small businesses will need verified Google Business Profiles to run Local Services Ads. The requirement will affect companies across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and “select businesses” in the U.S. and Canada. While aimed at reducing fraud, the policy could disrupt the visibility of ads from businesses unaware of the update, especially if their profile details are inconsistent. Verification, though relatively straightforward, may take as many as seven business days and require additional steps based on business type and location.
