Membership-based free shipping subscriptions for customers like those offered by Target and Amazon are becoming increasingly popular among retailers. While these plans can boost sales and customer loyalty, small businesses must weigh the financial implications. Research shows that such subscriptions can increase overall profits, but smaller retailers risk higher costs if customers take advantage of the service too frequently.
