American Eagle will open 50 to 80 additional Aerie lingerie stores over the next two years, executives said during an earnings call on Wednesday.
The announcement was part of an upbeat report on the retailer’s performance of the past year, during which total revenue has risen by 14 percent year on year, to $965 million, and comp sales have gone up by 9 percent. Comp sales were particularly strong for the Aerie division, up by 27 percent, and comps for the American Eagle division were good too, rising by 7 percent.
The additional Aerie stores are to open in new markets, and the retailer says it will also look at opening American Eagle stores overseas, as reported in Retail Dive.
