ICSC Legal Advisory Council
 

The Legal Advisory Council consists of 16 distinguished attorneys from around the country ranging from law firms to in-house counsel to the public sector who have been selected to serve on the Council to offer advice and guidance to ICSC on critical issues to the shopping center and retail real estate industry. These attorneys represent both owners/landlords and retail tenants of shopping centers and are keenly aware of the issues the industry faces. 

The Legal Advisory Council is charged with assisting ICSC in reviewing and making recommendations on requests for ICSC’s participation to file Amicus Curiae briefs in pending appeals on issues of importance to the shopping center and retail real estate industry.  Where ICSC decides to proceed with filing an amicus brief, members of the Legal Advisory Council will also assist in reviewing and editing the brief. The Legal Advisory Council may also be called upon to provide other advice and guidance to ICSC’s Legal Department and Government Relations & Public Policy Department on legal and policy issues pertaining to the industry.  The Committee serves at the pleasure of ICSC and reports to ICSC’s General Counsel and the EVP of Government Relations & Public Policy or such other designated ICSC Liaisons.

Nominations Process

The nominations process will open in the Spring 2025, at which time we will be soliciting nominations for vacancies on the LAC. ICSC members will be invited to nominate an attorney whom you believe would add value to this group. Self-nominations are also encouraged. 

Request Amicus Curiae Briefs

You may request ICSC to file an amicus curiae brief, either independently or with others, in pending appeals on issues of importance to the shopping center and retail real estate industry. Reviewed by ICSC’s Legal Department in consultation with the ICSC Legal Advisory Council.
